ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Sancho and Bellingham played together for one season before the winger made his high-profile transfer to Manchester United. Bellingham has since joined Real Madrid in a mega-money switch of his own. The pair's respective moves could not be more contrasting, however, with Sancho now back in Germany onloan from United and Bellingham becoming Madrid's star player. Bellingham's trademark celebration has become customary in the Spanish capital and one Sancho wanted to honour.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
It is possible to suggest that the success of Sancho's first spell in Germany laid the foundations for Bellingham to make the switch himself. Bellingham was 17-years-old when Dortmund paid Birmingham £25 million ($31.5m) for him and credited Sancho as a key role model in helping him settle at the Westfalenstadion.

WHAT NEXT FOR SANCHO?
Sancho's future remains uncertain once his loan finishes. It is unclear whether Dortmund could afford or would be willing to sign him on a permanent basis, but any redemption story at United appears all but impossible while Erik ten Hag remains manager at Old Trafford.
